Botox® helps men fight the signs of aging

While the 2013 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report noted that men make up just less than 10 percent of all cosmetic procedures in the United States, that’s still 1.2 million procedures total. The overwhelming bulk of those procedures—about 1 million—are minimally invasive, such as Botox® injections.

That comes as no surprise to Dr. Derek Jones of Skin Care and Laser Physicians of Beverly Hills. He served as an investigator in the clinical trial studying the use of Botox® to treat crow’s feet, which led to the cosmetic’s FDA approval in relation to those small lines that develop next to our eyes as we age.

Dr. Jones has also treated many of the print and TV models who demonstrate the beneficial effects of Botox®, so he knows the cosmetic very well.

According to the study, facial procedures grew the most in popularity over the year before, and Botox® topped the list as a favorite treatment, having been enjoyed to the tune of 6.3 million injections. Botox® also proved to be the preferred cosmetic for men specifically, whose decisions to use it have increased 310 percent since the year 2000.

Men made up 385,358 of the Botox® users in 2013, a full six percent of the overall total.

Men also opted to enjoy the benefits of laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, and soft tissue fillers (such as Juvéderm). Chemical peels rounded out the top five preferred minimally invasive cosmetic procedures for 2013.

Botox® and other injectables are available at Dr. Jones’ Skin Care and Laser Physicians of Beverly Hills, as are chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser hair removal. Men and women alike can set up a consultation by requesting an appointment or calling 310-246-0495 for more information.
