Laser Hair Removal
Plucking, shaving, and waxing are a thing of the past when it comes to hair removal
Plucking, shaving, and waxing are a thing of the past when it comes to hair removal. Some are painful, some are messy, and all are only a temporary fix. Laser hair removal is an FDA-approved process of permanently reducing or eliminating unwanted hair on almost any part of the body. The process takes anywhere from several minutes to several hours, depending on the area of the body involved. Laser hair removal uses a low-energy laser which passes through the patient's skin, being absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. Each pulse of the laser targets and inactivates and weakens a large number of hair follicles. Approximately 3-6 6-8 treatments are necessary, although some people do require more treatments.
Is it permanent?
With each treatment the hairs become finer, lighter, and less in number. During each treatment session, a certain percentage of the hair follicles are eliminated so that hair will no longer grow from them. With each treatment session additional hair follicles are eliminated until the hair is completely gone in most cases.
Is it Painful?
There is slight discomfort but the pain is generally less than waxing or electrolysis. Depending on how aggressive the treatment session is, the skin may be faintly to significantly pink following each treatment. We offer a numbing medication which significantly lessens the pain.
Is it safe for darker skin?
We offer two different lasers, the CoolGlide and the LightSheer, which work for all skin types.
