All BOTOX® injectors at Skin Care and Laser Physicians are Board-Certified and Cosmetic Fellowship-Trained Dermatologists, proudly laying claim to more than 100,000 procedures performed collectively. Our experience includes participation in crucial studies related to the injectable’s approvals in the United States, such as our work as principal investigator on the AbbVie clinical trial for platysma bands in the U.S. market. We worked as principal investigator on that study from 2021 to 2023, and the FDA approved BOTOX® for neck bands in October 2024.
No other practice has the same depth of experience and unique history with BOTOX® in Los Angeles or beyond.
In addition to this, we performed treatments for models who appeared in BOTOX® ad campaigns, achieved Black Diamond Status awarded by the medication’s manufacturer, Allergan, and worked on the investigation that ultimately led to the FDA’s approval of BOTOX® Cosmetic as a crow’s feet treatment.
That success came after the approval for treating for frown lines and preceded the approval for forehead lines—but that certainly wasn’t the end for the neuromodulator, since the FDA granted approval to another cosmetic use of BOTOX®, neck bands, last year.
Neck bands, technically referred to as platysma bands, are cords that connect the neck to the jaw. These bands can become increasingly pronounced and visible over time, especially as the platysma muscle grows weaker and aging skin grows thinner. When the muscle contracts, or when a patient tilts their head backward, the bands can appear more prominent.
Injecting the platysma muscle with BOTOX® allows the bands to relax and become less visible.
Since the neck is an area where signs of aging first develop, treating the bands can make a significant difference when it comes to helping patients enjoy a more relaxed and youthful look.
Although the FDA approval is recent, our Board-Certified and Cosmetic Fellowship-Trained Dermatologists are obviously no strangers to treating platysma bands, as well as working with BOTOX® for a variety of applications. We have the unparalleled experience and knowhow to determine the appropriate dosage for a range of neck band severities.
