Dr. Wesley is one of the leading experts
in the treatment of ethnic skin.
Dr. Wesley is highly sought after for her aesthetic skill and ability to rejuvenate faces and skin. Her approach is that of an artist and a scientist. With a family of artists and physicians, and an art history background, Dr. Wesley sees and visualizes the final work of art in her mind before starting the work on a patient. She uses a similar artistic and mathematical approach used by artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci in creating aesthetically pleasing proportions and beauty. Additionally, as an experienced Mohs/reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Wesley knows and understands the anatomy of the human face necessary to create a beautiful appearance. With this background and skill, Dr. Wesley is able to create extraordinarily natural results that do not appear "overdone," including for numerous celebrity patients. She feels that patients should look natural, revived, and refreshed, the best version of themselves ("you, only better").
She has also lectured nationwide, and has been quoted in several media outlets including the New York Times, San Diego Tribune, Ladies Home Journal, and Dermatology World. Staying on top of the latest advances in cosmetics, Dr. Wesley is also recognized as an invited journalist for the Aesthetic Section of Dermatology News since 2010, asked to write monthly about the latest advances in aesthetic dermatology read by dermatologists and aesthetic doctors world-wide.
Dr. Wesley is also one of the leading experts in the treatment of ethnic skin. Her publications in this arena include articles and book chapters in the Textbook of Cosmetic Dermatology, Handbook of Cosmetic Science and Technology, Dermatotoxicology, and American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, among others. She is the invited guest editor of the first "Skin of Color" issue of Seminars of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Wesley has also been an avid researcher, participating in numerous research studies and clinical trials that have contributed to many cutting-edge procedures performed in cosmetic dermatology today. She was involved in the clinical trials that led to the approval of Juvéderm Voluma®, Kybella®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Ulthera®, and CoolSculpting®. She has also been involved in numerous other clinical trials for Thermage®, Velashape®, miraDry®, Artefill®, Noveon®, as well as other injectable substances and lasers aimed at targeting cosmetic concerns such as facial wrinkles, skin tightening, fat reduction, hair removal, laser treatment of nail fungus, excessive sweating, and cellulite. Dr. Wesley is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and Physicians for Social Responsibility.
As a Clinical Instructor at UCLA, Dr. Wesley gives her time at UCLA and the Veterans Hospital monthly performing surgeries and teaching dermatology residents and fellows. Working with UCLA Children's Hospital, Skid Row homeless organizations, and organizations helping children, animals, the environment, and social responsibility, Dr. Wesley feels it is important to give back to the world. Dr. Wesley is dedicated to that cause over her lifetime. Her talents also include a history of modeling, yoga, and an interest in art and photography.
